Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is defined by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) as ” the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and wellbeing through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga”. It is a systematic approach which emphasizes engaging individuals in their healing process. A personalized yoga practice honors each person’s unique abilities and needs. Read what IAYT has to say about yoga therapy here.

Yoga therapy can be particularly useful for those with chronic pain or health issues, recurring injuries, rehabilitation after surgery, postural imbalances and other physical concerns. Anxiety, insomnia, addiction, PTSD, eating disorders, and depression may also be relieved through yoga therapy.

Private sessions are useful for students who aren’t able to attend weekly classes, would like to deepen their practice, or are new to yoga. Improving strength, flexibility, posture, developing a home practice, and learning yoga philosophy can all be addressed in a private yoga session.

Diane has completed 350 hours of yoga training with an emphasis on yoga therapy from Sarahjoy Marsh in 2015 and is registered yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy.

Yoga therapy & private instruction are available by appointment.  Sessions may be held at the yurt, in the student’s home or via internet.

Testimonial:  “The community of Talkeetna is so lucky to have a rehab specialist yoga teacher.  It can be a hard transition for folks to jump back into yoga and exercise classes after an injury.  During the two years that I spent in Talkeetna, I was able to be a part of several patients successfully making that switch.  Diane helped to transition them back to life long comfortable vital exercises.  I would definitely refer others to her.”  – Ginnie Oliver MOMT, PT
